Lions Celebrate Service with Barbecue
From the Mayor’s Newsletter…
The Croton Lions Club held their annual Sunset BBQ on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Senasqua Park. As is tradition, the event featured a barbecue feast prepared by Pete Tsagarakis - proprietor of the Croton Colonial Diner, music and lawn games for all ages.
This year's theme, "Giving back to the community that supports the Croton Lions," was highlighted throughout the evening. Attendees enjoyed door prizes and a 50/50 raffle which was won by Jack Rose, a member of the "Get up and get out gang." The door prizes included a gift basket of wine, the makings of an Italian meal and a gift certificate from the Croton Diner and the second basket was donated by CrotonTees (crotontees.com) with T-shirts, a mug and other Croton items.
A suggested donation of $10 per adult was collected to support the club's charitable efforts, with children under 12 attending for free. The Lions also collected used eyeglasses for recycling, a key part of their ongoing community service initiatives.
The Lions are one of several service organizations in our village. The Croton Lions Club empowers volunteers to serve their community and address humanitarian needs. Their mission focuses on five key pillars: vision, diabetes, hunger, cancer and the environment. As part of Lions Clubs International, the organization's motto is "WE SERVE," and 100% of all funds raised go back into the community.
