From The Croton Chronicle, by Michael Balter…
Lisbet Nunez, homeless since the Bari Manor fire last spring, is still waiting for work to start on her damaged apartment. The Lions topped her up with a $500 gift.
Earlier this month we reported on the desperate situation of Lisbet Nunez, a resident of the Bari Manor apartment complex on Old Post Road South whose unit was badly damaged during the fire there last May. The owners of Bari Manor had promised that she would be back in her apartment by this month, but in fact repair work on the unit has not yet begun.
Nunez has been staying with friends and in hotels ever since. Yesterday the Croton Lions gave her a check for $500 to try to help her out at least a bit. Bari Manor’s management told Nunez yesterday that they had no update on when she would be able to move back in; the Chronicle’s efforts to communicate with the management and the owners have gone unanswered.
The Chronicle is actively reporting on the situation and we hope to have more insights soon about why it is taking so long to get Lisbet Nunez back into her apartment. At the moment, all we can hope is that her ongoing nightmare will be over before too much longer.
A GoFundMe to help the displaced Bari Manor tenants, launched by trustee Nora Nicholson, is still active.
