Croton Lions Club recognizes outstanding service

On Sunday, October 26, the Croton Lions Club held our Annual Recognition/Awards Celebration at the Cortlandt Colonial Restaurant. We would like to thank all the local businesses who supported us this year by purchasing ads in our informational journal. Be assured, the funds will go right back into the community via grants for local needs.

President Vic Conte and V.P. Pete Tsagarakis welcomed the group and spoke about what it means to be a Lion. Vic and Secretary Bob Anderson presented the awards and three very nice gift baskets provided by local businesses as door prizes.

Lions Melvyn Howard and Steven Giacobello received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Lions International recognizes outstanding individuals with an award named after its founder, Melvin Jones. The Fellowship Award is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism.

Karen Polacek and Leslie Anderson were recognized for their exemplary work and dedication in the spirit of Lionism. We also had a special birthday cake for those Lions who celebrated their 90th birthday this year.

The event was a huge success. The restaurant put out an amazing assortment of goodies, including breakfast fare, omelets, prime rib and an amazing array of delicious desserts. Members and guests enjoyed the food and camaraderie.

Thank you to our dedicated lions team members who are active year-round in organizing and helping at our events. Our motto: WE SERVE. Please consider becoming a Croton Lion. New members are always welcome.
